D-Y High School Summer Reading

The D-Y High School Summer Reading List titles are on display in the library! While we don't own EVERY title on the list, we do own many of them, and I have put them all in one place so that you can easily find what you are looking for. We have also pulled the titles that we own on CD and put those out as well. AND, some of the titles are available for download from our OVERDRIVE collection - so you can listen on your iPod or Mp3 player while you hang out at the beach! How cool is that?

Seems like this page has fallen by the wayside - mostly because I post just about everything on Facebook. So if you ARE reading us here and would rather be reading us on Facebook, then join us over there!

In the meantime, I will try to post more stuff here for those of you who are not into the whole Facebook scene.

• READ it
• Write a short book review
• Email review to dennispubliclibrary (at) gmail (dot) com (don't forget to tell me your name, grade, and school)
• Watch your review appear on the Teen Website and FACEBOOK pages
• Collect your points
• TIP: You can read any book you like, but if you choose titles from the DY Summer Reading Lists (both the "official" list and the original GIANT list), you get DOUBLE POINTS!

Next Event - Game Day!

The next Teen Game Day will be at the end of February vacation - Friday, February 20, 3 - 5, at the library. Come play Wii, Apples-to-Apples (which was an even bigger hit than Wii last time), Uno, Skip Bo, Blokus, and MORE!! We'll have snacks and music. Come hang out with your friends before getting back to school - it's fun!

There are a couple of teen writing contests to tell you about -

The LWV (League of Women Voters) Student Essay Contest

Both offer cash awards, and the Polyphony contest also offers the chance to be published. If you are a writer, check them out.

WE HAVE ALL THE DETAILS IN THE TEEN SECTION AT THE LIBRARY!!

(Just a point of interest - I had a teen patron at my last library actually win an award in one of these things, so it can be done!)
